Quilted Wall Hanging (June 1, 8, 15)

During this beginner class we will cover quilting basics making the Cross Lake wall hanging by The Blanket Statement. Topics include fabric choice, layout & design of the versatile half square triangle, accurate cutting and piecing practices, the “quilt sandwich”, options for quilting, and binding your finished quilt. Please note, due to individual fabric choice, your quilt will be similar to sample photo, but not exactly the same. This class will require some homework, we encourage you to stay after class for the open studio session 2- 5pm and continue working on your quilt. Pattern and materials are included in the class fee.

When: Saturdays June 1, 8, & 15, 10am-12pm (3 classes – 6 hours instruction in total)

Group size: Maximum of 6 students

Age range: Adults 16+

Skill level: Suitable for confident beginners who are familiar with domestic sewing machines, cutting out fabric, seam allowances.

Supplies: All supplies included.

Teacher: Tazia was taught to sew by her two grandmothers and has always loved creative expression of all kinds. She has created over 60 quilts in the last 5 years. She loves exploring colourful motifs and is experienced with complex patterns, piecing, binding by hand and machine quilting.
